4th week

Sept. 27, 2019

Dear 3C Families,

We are so pleased to see home reading coming in and the children are excited to read!
We have been working on how to fill our buckets with positive and kind sayings. We have built our first bridge that supported a lego car. Next week we will plan and rebuild our bridges to hold a toy car. Your child may bring a toy car to school next Thursday for this challenge. Google maps has been a fun task for us this week. Children were excited to see their homes, our communities, our province, and our school. Google Earth has allowed us to visit various communities around the world!

Thank you all so much for the Terry Fox donations, the run today was a success.
We also had a fun and well deserved party for all our hard work in September !

2nd week

Dear grade 3C Families,

The children are beginning to understand the routines in class with the importance of individual work times and team work. We are delving into many fun learning tasks.

This past week we worked on a blueprint to plan our second towers before building them. We were successful as they all stood up. What we learned was that it is important to have a strong base!

Fundraiser boxes were sent home from Parent Council. If you do not wish to sell these cards, just return them to the school.

Scholastic orders were sent home today. All orders should be ordered under Mrs. Sinden’s name. Also, these are due by September 27.

Your child has a parent viewpoint sheet for you to fill out and return on Monday or Tuesday. This will assist me to understand your child’s interests and needs. Please have your child know the country of origin from both parental sides for our large world map. We will link their picture to the country. This will look amazing!

Important Dates:

Sept. 13-Parent teacher conference bookings are open this afternoon.
Sept 19- Early dismissal at 12:15pm. Conferences from 2-4pm and 5-7pm.
Sept. 20- No school- conferences 8:30-noon.

First week back

Hello 3C Families,

This week was fun! We enjoyed our getting to know each other activities. We built paper towers with only tape. Some tipped over while others held up. Next we are going to try making a blueprint first and learning more about what makes a strong, tall tower. We made fall themed mini me's, which you can see at conferences. We looked at the provinces of Canada and discussed where our ancestors came from and learned we have lots of languages in our class. We will have a lovely display board showing our ancestry.

Next week we'll be starting our Jump Math book and starting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Upcoming Dates;

Wednesday September 18th - It's a Crime not to Read
Thursday September 19th - Early Dismissal for Parent - Teacher conferences
Friday September 20th - No School for Parent - Teacher conferences
September 23-25 - Picture days
