Enjoy the break

Dec 17-

Dear Grade 3C Families,

The children have been busy designing and creating
their Peruvian Llamas this past week.

The students have researched an Amazon animal on www.kidrex.org
which has been quite interesting along with
videos of the Amazon Rainforest. Ask your child about the
animal they chose and the research they have done.

Upon our return in the New Year, we will be creating
Peruvian and Ukrainian instruments such as the Charango
or quena flute, Cha-chas, and maracas,  banduras (guitars),
rain sticks, and violins. Please collect and send empty kleenex boxes,
dry beans or rice, paper towel rolls, clean egg cartons, and wooden
dowels or wooden spoons 30cm in length.
We enjoy celebrating and respecting other cultures and traditions.
The children have enjoyed bringing and sharing items or artifacts from their cultural backgrounds! Very impressive!

In Math - We have finished our first unit on measurement and are
having our unit test today.

We wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season!

Dec Blog

Dec 6

Dear Grade 3C Families,

The children are excited to partake in some holiday crafts next week.
We will be busy with many fun activities in all subject areas!

We have created some lovely Canadian symbolic art on watercolor.
The children have learned many techniques including adding salt
for shimmer and dabbing for different effects for creating the
Northern Lights.
We have also made Peruvian wool art for a craft that you may
wish to hang on your Christmas tree or hang as a decoration.

Check out the pictures:

Check out www.whychristmas.com  your child can navigate
and explain the learning.

We also learned the basics of coding on “scratch” please ask
your child to show you how they can code.

We are finishing up reading the novel Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory in class, we will watch the movie on
Thursday December 12 in the morning.

Note from SVS: The Christmas season is upon us! It is a time many
families look forward to the gathering of family and friends, the sharing
of gifts and a warm meal. Unfortunately, not all families are able to
participate in many of these activities which most of us take for granted.

In previous years, the SVS staff and community have had the pleasure
of being able to help some of our SVS families during this time. We will
again be supporting a few of our  families by providing them with gift cards.
The most asked for are to SuperStore and Walmart but any card will be accepted.

You can show your support by purchasing a gift card and dropping it off
at the office by Friday December 13th. We will then distribute the cards
to the families the last week of school.  Thank you for your generosity and care.
